Brain grace

A designer's field notes on working with AI.

Where the name comes from

Sometimes I get stuck, like a mental block or writer's block, and Brain Grace is what comes to the rescue. Brain is the effort and the machine, and grace is the help you didn't earn.

What I share

I start with notes from building Mo. After that, I alternate between four kinds of note.

Try something small

A one hour experiment with a clear question.

Take apart an AI product

How it handles the first screen, waiting, being wrong, and letting the person say no.

Translate how models work

What I'm learning about how the models work, for other designers.

Life outside design

Running and music, and what they teach me about design.
